Nick Draper - End of life expenses
Nicholas Draper departed this earth on Saturday, August 28. In poetic fashion, our boy who became well known for his heart transplant passed away suddenly from a heart attack.
Nick was always a miracle boy. He loved his family, and showed it in his own unique way. He was born with a genetic condition that caused numerous challenges to his health – including needing a heart transplant as a tiny baby – but he continued to be a fighter through it all. He loved Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Puppy Dog Pals. Most of all, he loved his family members talking and playing with him.
Even though doctors initially gave a life expectancy of about 6 years, Nick lived 16 years with his adoring family. Nick’s care required tremendous work and sacrifice from others – including his mom, Nicole, and his family members Michael, Caitlin, Emma, and Brendan, in addition to the teams of nurses, teachers, doctors, therapists, and others who worked to give Nick the best life he could have.
Nick’s parents, Nicole and Michael, own a small business in Phoenix and like many others have had their ups and downs riding out the COVID pandemic. Their three older children are still pursuing their education, and Nick’s twin Nate still requires a great deal of medical care and attention.
The funds from this GoFundMe will be used to cover the costs of laying Nick to rest, including funeral expenses and transporting the Draper family and the casket to North Carolina, where Nick will be buried in the family cemetery.
