Fariba's healing journey from cancer
Dear friends and family, as some of you may already know, our dear mother, Fariba Zandpour, has been fighting lung cancer for the past two years. It’s been a journey of ups and downs but she remains determined and strong. We have decided to create a GoFundMe and are asking for financial support to help with the health related expenses that she is and will be incurring for her healing journey. Any contribution made will help relieve her from the stress of finances that has been pressing for her.
Also please pray for her healing and for strength to be restored to her. Keep her in your heart and send your love and prayers. Envision her healed.
We are beyond grateful.
Blessings to you all
❤️
Below is her story:
“I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer with metastasis to my bones in October 2017. My symptoms started after being exposed to the chemicals used for cleaning and painting our building. I tried natural remedies and over the counter medication but none could help my cough and shortness of breath. The chest X-ray and CT scan showed cancerous tumors and blood clots in my lungs. They gave me four to six months prognosis. Drops of tears came down, but I told my children that it cannot be true. I told them about a vivid dream of my then 3 year old grandson playing basketball for his high school team. He was making the basket while looking at me with a glance of joy which I will never forget.
The tumor had a specific biomarker of “EGFR” mutation and the oncologist put me on a pill called Tarceva which is “targeted therapy”. He said if my body can tolerate its side effects, it can work for about a year but at some point the cancer cells develop resistance and start a new mutation which makes the pill ineffective. There is a chance it will mutate to another biomarker for which there’s another targeted therapy. In that case, the pill will work for about another year but once the cancer mutates again they have to go for the last resort which is intense chemotherapy with low rate of effectiveness.
I started the pill and even though I was experiencing some side effects, my coughs were getting better. I had to stop my Ayurvedic practice and with the help of my family I focused solely on myself. I incorporated natural and alternative modalities including Ayurvedic therapies and herbs, acupuncture, Electromagnetic therapy, sound therapy, yoga, immune building supplements, minerals, vitamins, pesticides free diet, vegetable juices, herbal teas, detoxification and Hoxsey cancer tonic. I also went on a trip over that summer and spent some time in nature, close to rivers, ocean and mineral springs to get energized and nourished by Mother Earth which is the greatest healer. The tests showed great improvement each time and my cancer stayed stable and I was able to live life with the least amount of symptoms.
At some point I had to give up on many of the natural therapies and supplements due to their high cost. Eventually my symptoms came back after about 18 months which is six months more than what the doctors expected. My dry coughs and shortness of breath were deeper than before. In about two months I lost ten pounds feeling weaker day after day and had trouble sleeping. The PET scan showed activity and rapid growth of cancer indicating that it has developed resistance and the pill is not effective any more. The new biopsy qualified me for the second targeted therapy called Tagrisso and I started it three months ago. My symptoms almost disappeared and the tumors started to shrink. My doctor reminded me that this too will stop working at some point. Unfortunately the latest CT scan showed that cancer is stable in some parts but it is slowly growing in the lower part of my right lung.
I am now aware of the vastness and strength of this type of cancer. First time cancer attacked me was sixteen years ago and it was in my breast. I was able to go to remission with the help of conventional medicine, nutrition, energy therapy and yoga. It was a much easier challenge compared to this one. This one is very aggressive and difficult to treat due to its ability to develop resistance - the cancer cells come back stronger with new mutations.
Therefore, I need to restart everything I did in the beginning as well as incorporate other alternative cancer therapies which I have been researching about since my diagnosis. Alternative modalities for cancer therapy include intravenous vitamin C and B17 therapy, hyperthermia, ozone therapy, PEMF (pulsed electromagnetic field) therapy, professional lymph therapy, craniosacral therapy, dendritic cell therapy, cancer vaccines, detoxification and many more. There are clinics in the States that offer some of these therapies. I have been interviewing with a few cancer clinics outside the States which offer comprehensive programs with the goal of boosting the immune system to let the body fight cancer naturally. Their therapies work great in conjunction with conventional therapies. I deeply believe that I should combine alternative with conventional medicine for my case. The cost of these cancer clinics are anywhere between 40 to 60 thousand dollars for the year. The cost of getting such treatments here in the States could run even more than that considering accommodation. Unfortunately, none of the above therapies including the ones offered in the States are approved by my health insurance.
I am asking for your help to raise funds to be able to continue my journey of healing with peace of mind. Your contribution will take away the financial stress and enables me to select and start the appropriate alternative therapies to extend my life while the current therapy is still in effect. Life is so precious to me and I’m so thankful for it. Being a companion to my beloved 96 year old mother, mother to my wonderful children, and grandma to two beautiful grandsons - one was just born two weeks ago - make me more inspired to do what it takes to fight this disease and extend my life.
I truly believe there is a cure for cancer and it takes all modalities to join forces. It is a combination of many imbalances, a puzzle and a deadly poison which brings its own antidote. Even though cancer is here to take my life, I’m thankful for it. Each time it came, it changed my life to a more meaningful one. First time it brought me to Ayurveda and I studied to become an Ayurvedic practitioner. This time it has inspired me to write my cancer experience and reconnect to my poetry which I love to share with all of you.
If you feel called to my cause please consider donating here and spreading the word. I’m beyond grateful for your time, care and support. I believe we are all supported in this universe if we open our hearts and be able to receive when we really need to. Peace and blessings from the depth of my heart to all of you who read my story.
Thank you,
Love
Fariba “
