My name is Breanna, and I am a registered nurse. I have spent the majority of my life taking care of others in every setting, from hospice to emergencies, through the Covid crisis and before. Things have been very hard at home. Recently, I have been the one asking for help. My husband, who is fully disabled from an accident that happened in his 20s, has had a rapid recent decline in his physical abilities, and things have drastically changed. The last two years, things have drastically changed physically and financially. About a week before Christmas, December 17, 2024, I lost my job because my husband needed more of me at home due to his rapid decline in his physical abilities and more procedures and testing. Because of his disabilities, I am the only driver, so it is up to me to get him to where he needs to go, as well as my kids before and after school. We have recently discovered that he has lytic bone lesions, and doctors are leaning towards metastatic bone disease. On top of that, he has fibromyalgia, spondylitis, kidney disease, and complex regional pain syndrome, and we are running out of treatment plans. He is 34 and currently fully using a cane, not able to enjoy doing the things a dad his age should be because he can hardly walk. We are trying to keep him from ending up in a wheelchair. It is also up to me to handle everything as I am the main source of income and the only one that can help and be the provider. Being that my husband isn't safe to be by himself and is not able to work, I also cannot provide or work anymore because I need to be at home for my family. We don't have any help with our children, etc. I have reached out to organizations and have been left stranded aside from one organization due to funding being used up for others. I am asking for any kind of assistance to help with our mortgage, utilities, clothing, medical, etc. Anything helps. We have used up everything I had saved for emergencies, my kids' futures, and everything. We are praying to get accepted to the Mayo Clinic, but we have run through every single penny we had to be able to even get there. We are praying to be able to save our house. We are not even too sure where to go from here if we can't save this house, as we don't know how much time we really have left. We have been together since we were 15 and married by 21. We have four children, ages 16, 12, 11, and 4. Not only has this been devastating for my husband and me, but my children are greatly affected as well. Instead of enjoying life, we are trying our hardest to make sure our children don't have to be dragged through any more of this and at least be able to save our home. I am usually the one helping and advocating for others, but I am desperately asking for anyone to take the time to read this and just listen to our story.
