Betsy is a friend of ours and is an extremely happy person with a set of rare, difficult circumstances. She’s fighting for her life and needs you help.
After a knee surgery in 2012 and two years of unknown, she was diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Mast Cell Disease Activation Disease, and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia.
Since late spring, early summer her conditions have been acting up. A few weeks ago, things got significantly worse after some tests.
She moved to California because there are no cures yet for what she has and the weather is better for conditions. Her doctors said for quality of life to move and to be near a major academic medical center. She’s loved living there, but she’s been desperately seeking medical care while rapidly declining.
She now has nonstop ocular migraines and is unable to look at light for any period, sustains subsequent seizures, possible mini strokes, and other potentially life threatening symptoms.
She loves life and has always helped others whenever she’s been able. She’s a fighter and wants to survive.
Urgent needs are to help cover rent and incidentals. She has not been able to find appropriate medical treatment and she might need to move back near Hopkins where she was initially diagnosed. This is an ongoing and life threatening situation.
