A Grandfather's Visit Turns into a Nightmare

My name is Vimmy Suvarna, and I’m writing this with a heavy heart.
A few weeks ago, my dad came to Hull to visit us and to meet his grandson. He was full of energy, laughter, and love. Watching him hold his grandson, play, and tell stories was pure joy for all of us.

Then, everything changed.

Over the weekend of 18th October, my dad started feeling very weak and unwell. We took him Hull Royal, thinking it was something simple. But after several tests and anxious waiting, the doctors told us the words no family ever wants to hear: blood cancer.

It was sudden and completely unexpected. Just days earlier, he was walking in the park with his grandson. Now he’s fighting for his life, far away from home and everything unfamiliar.

The Emotional and Financial Struggle
Because my dad is in the UK on a visitor visa, none of his treatment or hospital expenses are covered. Overseas patients are charged 150% of the costs to the NHS, which is why we are being charged such a large
amount.

Every day in the hospital is adding thousands of pounds to the bill. We are already using our savings, borrowed money, and doing everything we can, but it’s not enough.

The total cost of his ongoing treatment and getting him safely back home to India is approximately £65,000. This includes hospital care, medical stabilization, and a special flight equipped for his condition so he can continue treatment at home surrounded by family.

Unfortunately, as a family we didn't ensure our Father had travel insurance. As he was visiting family we just didn't think about it in the same way as we would for a holiday. It's a devasting way to learn a lesson and one we will forever regret.
We are doing everything we can as a family, but we can’t do this alone.

Why We’re Asking for Help
We’re raising £65,000 for two urgent needs:
1. *Immediate hospital and treatment costs* to keep my dad stable and continue his care here in Hull.
2. *Medical flight to India* so he can be safely transported home for long-term treatment and recovery.

My dad has always been the one to take care of everyone else. He’s the kind of person who helps without being asked, who puts his family first every single time. Now, it’s our turn to be there for him — and we need your help to do that.

How You Can Help
We are grateful for any support you can offer:
• *Donate:* Any amount helps, no matter how small. Every contribution brings us closer to bringing him home.
• *Share:* Please share this campaign with your friends, family, and community. The more people who see it, the faster we can reach our goal.
• *Pray:* Please keep my dad in your thoughts and prayers. Your love, support, and positive energy mean more than you can imagine.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting. You’re helping us fight for our father’s life and giving us hope when we need it the most.

With gratitude,
Vimmy Suvarna and Family
