Help Maui Walk Again: Support His Surgery
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Maui and I'm a 4-year-old French bulldog.
On January 4th, after spending the New Year with my family, I started to lose strength in my back legs and hips. I was taken to the vet; however, they recommended I go home and stay still to see how I was progressing.
On January 5th, my dog-parents took me to an emergency visit to the neurologist as they saw I was becoming immobile and losing more and more self-autonomy and strength in my back paws to the point where I was unable to move, walk, or relieve myself. The neurologist had to schedule an emergency intervention and diagnosed me with Intervertebral Disk Disease, which means that four of my disks broke down and stopped acting as cushions between the vertebrae and absorbing pressure on the spine, making me unable to walk.
My surgery was successful, but I have a long way to go. So far, my hospital bills add up to $14,500. Hospitalization, many medications, and physical therapy are needed and hopefully, with the care and love of my family, I will be able to walk again soon.
