On behalf of the Rosales/Flores family and in loving memory of my cousin, Sarah Isela Rosales Guillén, & my abuelita, Hilaria Rosales Villanueva

On September 2 amidst a threatening and stressful evacuation, Sarah was admitted to a hospital in Yerington, NV after suffering a ruptured aneurysm.  She was flown to Renown Hospital in Reno, NV where she was admitted into the ICU, where she entered a coma. While we had hoped he health would improve, we were only met were unfortunate news time and time again as she lost the ability to breath on her own, lacked response, and ultimately was in a vegetative state. With her parents and family by her side throughout this gruesome time, Sarah passed around 5pm on September 28 after 26 days in the ICU.

While Sarah may have had her challenges, she always tries to have a positive outlook and determined mindset to make it work. She dealt much of her younger years with severe epilepsy, but this did not hinder her optimistic outlook on life. She loved music, helping others, and taking care of the younger family members. She’s truly a kind soul and while our family is devastated from this unforeseen tragedy taking away a daughter, sister, cousin, and wife, we are assured knowing heaven gain a valiant and kindhearted angel.

As we mourn Sarah’s passing, my abuelita struggled to handle the news of her granddaughters passing. My grandmother was 89 years old and health system was very delicate, but this news seemed to take a toll on her body. On October 6 at 12:45am, my abuelita peacefully passed with all her children by her side.

My abuelita lived a fulfilled life. She had, 7 children, 26 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. As a single mother, she raised our family in the principles of perseverance and optimism as we must always strive through our most difficult times and try to keep a positive outlook as not all hard times last forever. She came to Tahoe 32 years ago from El Salvador to give her children the opportunity at a better life. As a result,  her grandchildren also had a better life as many were raised in Tahoe and are South Tahoe High Graduates. She truly has created a legacy for our families and we will truly admire her strength having done so.

While we miss them both, we will in their grace and live by their ideals.

Any and all donations are appreciated at this time and will be going to her family during these difficult times. Thank and updates will follow.
