Baby Mateo Romero
Eating, digesting - such mundane activities; we all do it and yet most of us don't think much about it. But when you're told at 15 weeks that your newborn baby boy will struggle with these things, your life suddenly takes on a whole new meaning. This is exactly what happened to Katherine Romero, single mother of 3 beautiful children: Lorenzo (8yo), Lulyanna (3mo - deceased) and Mateo (premature newborn).
At a routine pre-pregnancy doctor's appointment, after the recent diagnosis of Mateo's Gastroschisis, a condition in which the internal organs push outside of the baby's body, Katherine was leaving St. Joseph's Hospital when she was involved in a horrific car accident, leaving her with severe sciatic nerve pain and ultimately leading to an induced labor and emergency c-section. Mateo's heart rate was significantly lower than expected and was placed directly into the NICU, shortly after, Katherine was discharged from St. Joe's though was invited to stay at the Ronald McDonald House, while Baby Mateo continued to recover at St. Joseph's.
Currently, Katherine has no means of transportation - walking 2 miles everyday with her wheeled walker, to see her baby boy. As life expenses and medical bills continue to pile up, Katherine fearlessly and endlessly fights for, not only Baby Mateo, but her 8 year old son Lorenzo. Loving her boys as intensely as anyone could ever imagine loving another human being.
Their life has been forever altered by this accident and they are going to be in need of financial and emotional support, as both mom and baby recover. From medical bills, therapy, medical devises, emotional trauma support and possible alterations, to the basic ways they live their life....they need your help!

Katherine's Story:
Katherine has lived most of her adult life with little support from her family, with the exception of a few friends. At the age of 16 she became pregnant with her first child, Lorenzo. When Lorenzo was 5, he learned that he would be a big brother. Their world was about to change. Suddenly. And would NEVER be the same again...
Lulyanna was born on 8/12/2015. Everyday seemed like a blessing and every moment of their lives was filled with love and joy, but nothing could prepare Katherine for the day that lay ahead. The shock of Lulyanna's death and the grief that would follow. On 11/14/2015, Katherine awoke to realize that her 3 month old, beautiful baby girl had died from SIDS.
We do have a choice in life: To give up hope or fight for survival. Katherine has chosen to fight. Everyday.
Beyond any donation, please share Baby Mateo and Katherine's story. Through all the pain in her short life, she is still the sweetest and most humble of people. Spreading love and laughter, celebrating the small victories and pushing forward.
In Loving Memory, Lulyanna Sincere Romero
