To our community! We’re Candice (Lisa’s sister) and Feather (her friend), and we’re organizing this fundraiser for someone we love deeply -- Lisa Nicole.

In April, Lisa was in a car accident. Thankfully, she walked away with only bruises -- but her car was totaled. She’s now without a vehicle and doesn’t have the resources for a down payment on a replacement. In the meantime, she’s been relying on friends for rides to and from work, and daily life has become a lot more difficult and uncertain.

If you know Lisa, you know how much she gives. She founded NWI Activists, creating a space for folks in Valparaiso and the surrounding area to speak up, show up, and make their voices heard. And she didn’t stop there -- Lisa made it a point to pair protest with action, organizing donation drives alongside demonstrations. These have gathered shelf-stable food, diapers and baby food, and pet supplies for local food pantries and animal shelters. More are planned, including for cleaning supplies and library books. Lisa saw a need in her community and stepped up.

Now she could use a little help in return.

Lisa needs a car to keep doing her work -- and just to get to her job and live her life. When we found out what she was up against, we offered to start this GoFundMe, and after a little nudging, she agreed.

We’re hoping to raise $4,000 (original goal was $2,000 but we quickly realized that was not going to be enough) to help her make a down payment on a used car and keep the monthly payments manageable.
