Help Jason get back on his feet

Update:

I’ve raised the goal on this fundraiser because everyone has been so generous we met the initial goal! Jason is doing well for now; he got a back brace and was allowed to sit up and eat for the first time. He has a spinal cord injury with numbness in his legs but we won’t really know the prognosis for a while, until the swelling goes down and he can try standing. Fortunately he does have some feeling and can tell when someone is touching his feet and he can wiggle his toes. Your generosity is giving him some comfort that he won’t have to immediately worry about financial concerns, so thank you very much.

Original note:
Hi, my name is Scott and I’m fundraising for my brother Jason. Jason was shot in the back while walking home from his job around 2am on November 7th by some random gunfire. He had recently started a new job at a restaurant in uptown that he really enjoyed. When I visited him on last night in the ICU he was able to feel and move his fingers and toes but was in a lot of pain in his abdomen, perhaps be cause of nerve damage. We aren’t sure yet what his recovery will look like but the Nurse said she expected him to be in the ICU for at least five days while they keep his blood pressure up to keep blood circulating to his limbs. He had surgery the morning of the 7th to remove some fragments in his back. He won’t be able to work for quite some time as he goes through rehabilitation, so I’m creating this fundraiser to help with expenses during his recovery.
