On March 28th Katie had a bad fall snowboarding in Breckenridge CO. Her elbow ball (olecranon) was split and humerus bone was split in two. She had surgery two days later, had 2 plates and 12 screws put into her arm to repair the damage. Last week, after multiple follow up visits, new X-rays showed that the screw holding her elbow in place had failed, and the bones were no longer being held together. Another surgery was required to correct the problem, which was successful yesterday (April 25th)! The bad screw was removed and another plate and 7 new screws were used to secure the bones (3 plates and 18 screws in her arm total). Unfortunately, her insurance doesn’t cover any of the surgical costs at all or the physical therapy, which will be necessary. It will take several months before she has full use of her left arm again. She has been unable to work, and with the new surgery, that time has been extended. Katie is incredibly generous and kind. This is an opportunity to help a truly deserving person in a time of need.
