Help Cyprus Rebuild After Devastating Wildfires

My name is Tatjana, and with a heavy heart, I’m reaching out on behalf of my family and our village communities in Cyprus, places that have been devastated by the recent wildfires.

My family’s villages in Cyprus have been tragically affected by the recent wildfires that swept through the region, leaving behind destruction, heartbreak, and uncertainty.

What were once peaceful, beautiful homes and vibrant communities have now been reduced to ash. Many families have lost everything: their houses, crops, animals, and most devastating of all, their sense of safety. These aren’t just distant stories on the news. These are people’s homes. The hills where we played as children, the olive groves where generations tended with their bare hands, the small houses filled with laughter, food, and love. Most of it has been burned or lost.

My relatives, along with many others in neighbouring villages, have lost almost everything: their homes, their animals, their land, their livelihood. They are now left trying to survive with so little, unsure of how to start again.

It’s difficult to describe the pain of seeing generations of history and love turned to ashes. But even in this heartbreak, I believe in the strength of community and the kindness of people like you.
