Jack’s miracle

Donation protected
Hi my name is Nikki and I am mum to Jack; a wonderful, loving young 17 year old.

One week ago. on Easter Monday, we went for a family walk at Buriton. Jack and Aiden went ahead to the rope swing that lots of families enjoy. It swings off the side of the valley. Jack swung out and at 25ft in the air the rope snapped and Jack fell.
After 6 amazing specialist crews and paramedics and about 2.5/3hours they got him out of the forest.

We were taken to Southampton General where we were told Jack has broken his spine.

On Tuesday afternoon/evening Jack had a 7 hour operation where they have put rods either side of his vertebrae covering; 7 vertebrae altogether. The surgeons have said with the injury he had it is a miracle he didn’t sever his spinal cord. We are insanely grateful.

Jack is in a lot of pain but getting slowly better each day. He has sensation in his arms and legs and has now managed to stand and take a few steps with help.

It will be a very long, painful recovery but he is so strong. He is very determined to get back to as normal life as possible as soon as he can.

He will need lots of support as well as specialist items to help him once he is home.
I have set up this gofundme in case anyone would like to help.
