On March.17th 2018, our father, son, brother, husband, Kevin Timothy was rushed to the Powell River General Hospital. Due to shortness of breath, he suffered double pneumonia in both his right and left lung, by this time he was unresponsive. Within hours of being admitted into the emergency, he was medivac’d to St Paul’s Hospital around 4:30pm and arrived at 5:15pm. Gert his wife caught the next available flight to Vancouver. Upon arrival they had already had him on a life support machine and had him in an induced coma. His lungs had given out. His body had several viruses and bacteria in his blood, kidneys and liver. The medication they had given him caused him to have chronic kidney disease.Kevin has spent a total of 3 weeks in the intensive care unit at St Paul’s hospital. During that period he has a temperature of 43-44 degrees, they used cooling blankets on and off for a long period of time. His kidneys had given out so they put him on a dialysis machine. His temperature was so high it caused him to have 2 strokes.Due to the strokes, he needs intensive rehabilitation therapy. Boths sides of his body are paralyzed and has very limited mobility. His rehabilitation therapy is expected to take months. Kevin will also be on dialysis for the rest of his life. He is managing so far but the road ahead is long and unknown at this point. Kevin (my dad) is strong, smart, young and determined, so we are very confident he will have a full recovery.Covering the cost for a living for the next few critical months will alleviate at least one worry during this unbelievable, stressful time. Anyone wanting to help, please help by giving donations so Kevin and Gert can focus on Kevin’s recovery. Thank you so much, we appreciate everyone generosity and prayers, no matter what you are able to give all the prayers for Kevin’s recovery.Emote
