On Tuesday evening June 20, 2023, Eric 'Bubba' Cato had been at a friends' house helping out, as he often did for all of his friends and family - this time it was 4 hours worth of yard work (after a day of work at his own job). On his way home to dinner with his fiancée Hannah and their two small daughters, he was involved in a terrible accident. Bubba had to be extricated from his truck and was taken to Oschner ER. Once there, we learned that he had multiple severe injuries that would require several surgeries and months of recovery and rehab. His right foot/heel was shattered, along with right tibia broken just below knee and above ankle and right fibula broken just above ankle. His left hand also has a fracture and his neck has a fracture at his C4/C5 vertebrae. While these injuries are very serious and will require multiple operations, we are very thankful that he survived this accident.

6/21/23 doctors operated and put pins in his foot to stabilize the shattered bones as much as possible. The next step will be to place a plate in his vertebrae in his neck to stabilize that fracture. That is scheduled for Friday. After that he will need surgeries to place rods in his tibia and his fibula to stabilize those.

Bubba is facing a significant amount of time in the hospital. Once released, it will take some time for him to be able to drive and return to work. While he's having these surgeries and in ICU, Hannah is missing work to be by his side.
