On Monday, February 21, 2022, my grandmother’s life changed. Her home of nearly 60 years was destroyed in a horrific house fire. It appears the source of the fire was in the basement, near a circuit breaker box, but the cause is still unknown. Thankfully, she was alerted by the sound of smoke alarms and the smell of smoke. She was able to make it out of her burning home with her walker, bathrobe and cell phone. Unfortunately, all of her other belongings have been destroyed and are unsalvageable. Collections and keepsakes are now just memories. Everything that sits in the aftermath of the fire is beyond repair. In April, she will be 88 years old and will be starting a new life.
