Samantha's Summer Success

Hi, I am Samantha. I am ten years old and live in Orange County, California. My year in school has has been really challenging. Instead of feeling safe and welcome at my school, I have been bullied almost every day. This Summer, I hope to be able to do something really special. I want to go to camp so I can make new friends do fun activities that I have never done, and regain my confidence. I can make s’mores, ride a horse & learn how to make a ceramic pot with my own hands. I know how happy it will make me to have friends again. During camp, I will have a roommate like in college and make friends with them. I have had a hard time at school with someone who has not been very nice to me. Everyday I have heard that my hair is ugly and nobody likes me. It’s hard to keep ignoring all the bad things. My mommy has been so sad because I have been so sad. She does not understand I do not know how to ignore this problem. There are only 3 girls in our class and I’m so tired of not being included to play at recess. I have read about this camp…. learning to get dirty, make mistakes and learn that girls will like me if I am just who I am. I think my mommy is excited as I will have to do chores like cleaning up horse poop & laundry. I am excited to think that the entire camp of all girls my age might like my hair and like me, too. I am asking that instead of any birthday or christmas gifts you can help send me to camp. Originally I wanted to be a lifeguard, so my Mom would not have to try to pay for a camp on her own, but I failed the test to be a junior lifeguard. I am looking forward to this camp. My mommy is hoping I find my joy, she said to me. Thank you
