Hello ! My name is Gurmit Singh, and I have been living in Colorado for the last 29 years, and have been working and making a hard-earned living as a waiter/server at the oldest Indian restaurant in Colorado, called Indias Restaurant, in south east Denver.

In September 2015, I was diagnosed with Liver cancer, and my world has been turned upside down with worries. I have 2 daughters, a 21 year old and my younger one is a Sophomore in High School in Aurora. My wife was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2007, and had her kidney transplant in 2009. She is currently on disability.

My chemotherapy treatment starts next week, the week of 28th September 2015, at Rocky Mountain Cancer Center in Aurora, Colorado. This treatment will last for around 8 months, and as per the Doctor’s assessment, I will be too weak to work for 8-12 months.

Over the next year, the expected medical cost is between $12,000 to $20,000, and the expected cost to run my household is between $30,000 to $35,000 (includes monthly costs of mortgage of $1200, medical insurance of $325, electricity and water bills of $200,  payments and insurance for 2 vehicles, and clothing and grocery bills for 4 family members etc.).

I have never been unemployed, and always worked hard to support my family. I never fathomed worrying so much about my family, and this sudden loss of health and livelihood.
