Emergency Funding for Young Trans Sex Worker
Donation protected
The Incident:
Earlier this Month a Young Trans Black Sex Worker was brutally attacked and sexually assaulted at a community event. As a community we are attempting to rally around them during this difficult and challenging time.
The statistics:
It has been reported that 47% of Trans Folxs were sexually assaulted at some point in their lifetime and one in ten (10%) were sexually assaulted in the past year.
In communities of color, these numbers are higher: 53% of Black respondents were sexually assaulted in their lifetime and 13% were sexually assaulted in the last year.
One in six survivors of sexual assault reported experiencing long-term effects consistent with post-traumatic stress disorder. The most common emotional consequences included feeling angry (35%), trying hard not to think about the incident or going out of the way to avoid situations that reminded the victim of the incident (29%), feeling upset, confused and frustrated (21%). 25% of sexual assault survivors reported that they had difficulty carrying out everyday activities due to the incident.
How we are trying to respond:
We are working to raise money so that they are able to support themselves in the next few months. Money will go towards Rent, Living Expenses and finding an ongoing therapist to help support them with the post traumatic stress of this situation.
$6000- will go towards Rent
$3000- will go towards Living expenses
$3000 - will go towards on going therapy
We thank you for support!
