Help Us Move Delores Delgado-Washam to a Safe Assisted Living Home
Hi everyone,
This is Mary, and writing this is one of the hardest things I’ve had to do. Anyone who knows me knows I don’t ask for help easily, but my family and I have reached a point where we simply cannot do this alone. So i am writing this on behalf of me and my Siblings Gloria Price and George Brown.
Our mother, Delores Delgado-Washam, is an elderly woman living with vascular dementia and bipolar disorder. Up until now, she has been in an independent living facility, but her condition has recently worsened. The facility has informed us that they can no longer meet her needs and will be evicting her at the end of this month.
Her safety and well-being depend on her moving to assisted living, where she can receive the 24-hour care and supervision her conditions require. Unfortunately, neither independent living nor assisted living is covered by insurance, meaning everything must be paid out of pocket.
Our mom was already struggling to afford her current independent living cost of $2,615 a month. The most affordable assisted living facility that properly supports her medical and emotional needs costs $3,800 a month, and they require first month + deposit upfront:
• $3,800 first month
• $1,900 deposit
Total needed: $5,700
My siblings and I have explored every option, but none of us are in a financial position to come up with this amount on such a short deadline. It breaks my heart to ask, but I’m doing this for my mother’s safety and stability.
If you are able to help with any amount, it would mean the world to us. And if you cannot donate, please consider sharing this so it can reach someone who may be able to.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any support financial or otherwise. Your kindness will help us get my mother into a safe and supportive home where she can receive the care she truly needs.
With gratitude,
Mary Rollison
Gloria Price
George Brown
