Please help us finish our home

Good day to all. My name is Michael and Gigi is my wife. Back in July we had a tree fall on our house while my wife and 2 dogs were inside. Thank God they got out safely. A branch came through the roof and missed my wife by 3' while she was sitting on the couch. She just got done her physical therapy for a bad broken ankle from a fall in Jan 2023.

We have worked on our home daily for the past 5 years trying to make it our own heaven on the river. We haven't even been back home since moving here. Last winter I finished the kitchen which was damaged the most. We lost our washer, dryer, stove, refrigerator, microwave, ice maker, toaster oven, 2 laptops, kitchen ware and the list keeps going. And today when I found out how much depreciation was taken off each product for it's age they paid very little towards the top. It's insulting how they come up with their figures.

So since July we have been living in hotels with our 2 husky"s and at the mercy of our insurance company. This has been a nightmare every step of the way. They aren't your friend and they help you out so little. You are on your own which I had no idea large claims are handled the way we were treated. And to find out most companies are like this.

They took their time when they wanted to and when it came to releasing money they would always under pay.

They wrote the policy without coming out to look at our house like promised. So there were upgrades that needed to be done to please local codes but they weren't paying. By code we needed heating units in every room but we heated with a wood stove before and never had an issue. So now the kitchen, bathroom and office need secondary heat. And this whole time we were assured time after time that our house will be like new and we didn"t need to worry about about a thing

This is just one example of many how they undercut our repairs. Yes they paid us but we are short.

Going to the bank is not an option for us. I never thought I would have to ask like this but our options are limited. The stress that we are under I wish to no one. Gigi has a serious immune disorder and stress is what put her in the hospital for 3 months back in 2017. She was paralyzed for a few months and came home in a wheelchair and had to learn all motor skills over again. She doesn't need her GBS taking over again but it could happen very easily again
