Hi, my name is Katherine and I’m reaching out to you on behalf of my dear friend Shemica (Nikki) Moss a 46 year-old lifelong resident of Lake Charles Louisiana. Shemica was diagnosed with systolic congestive heart failure with cardiomyopathy. She is in class three of heart failure. Her condition has worsened and now a heart transplant if not, a miracle is her only hope for survival. Shemica has always been a fighter having overcome thyroid cancer in March 2021. Shemica’s current ejection fraction is in the 10 to 15 percentile. Needless to say she is a walking talking miracle. Shemica faces many challenges daily dealing with shortness of breath and fatigue with every step she takes. She is always driving forward in grace looking ahead to the best of her ability. Shemica is in constant pain, which is a part of her everyday battle. She is now being tested to see if an LVAD device is needed to be the bridge that she needs until she’s able to receive a heart transplant. Having a heart transplant is vital for Shemica to continue to live. Your donations will help to make this journey to success an easier road to travel. Shemica sees three different specialist monthly with a co-pay between $40-$95 sometimes multiple visits per month. Shemica is also having to travel with overnight stays and hotel expenses. Shemica takes six heart medication‘s daily for the functionality of her heart along with other medication‘s that are costly on a monthly basis. The cost of a heart transplant is overwhelming between testing surgical procedures, hospital stays, medication and ongoing care. We are aiming to raise $50,000 to cover these costs and afford Shemica the chance to live a healthy fulfilling life.
