Mike Weiss is a granduate of Wahtonka High School in the Dalles Oregon. He has 16 years of military service as a Seabee/ Former Navy Corpsman and in his own words "Mean Green Navy/Marine Corps team AKA Dirt Navy!" Mike has fought for our freedom in Afganistan and hopes to re-deploy in 2016 if he can heal enough.
Mike has spent over 22 days in the hospital so far between the VA Hopsital and OHSU. He was diagnosed with Divertticulitis with a Colocutaneous Fistula and Lower Abdominal Abscess.
Mike developed a a CRE infection which is an antibotic resististant ecoli bacteria that carries it's own enzyme that can render other bacterias antibiotic resistant.
Mike has spent 22 days in the hospitals so far and has been in/out on antibiotics and drainage tubes while fighting the infection and attempting to build weight back to allow him to tolerate the upcoming surgery.
Mike is scheduled for surgery on 11/06/2015 where they will resect or cut out part or all of his Sigmoid colon. This will be an open abdominal surgery due to cleaning out the infection, also repair the fistula and create a bypass the great intestine to while it heals.
Mike will be living with the the bypass for six weeks and/ or even up to six months depending on the healing process. Once the great intestine heals then he will have another surgery to remove the bypass and allow his body to evacuate waste the way it was intended to.
Mike is currently a Reservist on FMLA and not getting paid from his civillian job . On a good note Mike 's insurance through his job is now instated as of 11/01/2015. Mike needs the time to heal with out worrying about paying his past medical bills ,rent, and other living expenses.
Mike's dream is to deploy again in 2016 with his unit, brothers and sisters.
Thanks in advance for helping out and God Bless!
