Michael was in a vehicle accident on January 20, 2025, at 6 am. At the speed of 75 mph, he hit a semi. We are very fortunate that he is still with us. If you were able to see pictures of the vehicle, you would be amazed!

He had to be airlifted from the accident after being cut out of the vehicle, where he was put in immediate surgery for internal bleeding. He was in surgery for HOURS, and we really didn’t have many details yet. When he came out of surgery, we were notified of all the injuries: grade 4 liver laceration (worst is a 5), broken ribs on both sides (I think 11 total), broken sternum, bruised heart, bruised lungs, broken hip and broken femur on the left side, broken fibula in the right leg, he bit his tongue in half and had a hole in his lip area, and suffered several brain bleeds in different areas of his brain—this is a traumatic brain injury. The most serious injuries he has are his hip surgery that was done and the brain injury. He was on a ventilator for 10 days, then spent time in a regular hospital room, then was transferred to inpatient rehab. He will be out of work for several months recovering. He will be traveling back to Lubbock for the surgeon to do follow-ups and will be doing outpatient rehab for physical and speech, which has neurological specialties. He was not with his company for quite a year yet, and they can only help so much, but the time off work will significantly outlast that help.

He is very happy to be home, and the realities of everything are beginning to surface and tend to be a little overwhelming. He appreciates all the prayers, outpouring of support, and encouragement he has received thus far! Thank you!
