Goal
Fund COVID-19 medical supplies and equipment enabling Ruaraka Uhai Neema Hospital (RUN Hospital) to provide healthcare to one of the largest and poorest Kenyan slums, 700,000 extremely vulnerable people.

Crisis and Organization
- RUN Hospital, a local community hospital serving extremely poor in the urban and rural shantytowns of north-east Nairobi, together with their sister organization, World Friends, desperately requires emergency medical supplies and equipment to support the COVID-19 pandemic response.
- The hospital and community programs provide high quality pediatric, maternity and emergency healthcare and educational programs to over 300,000 extremely vulnerable people annually.
- Coronavirus further exacerbates healthcare complications for those living in poverty due to the lack of water, extremely close living conditions, pre-existing diseases and lack of income to feed themselves. People in the slums live hand to mouth on less than $ 1 a day.
- Health care is inaccessible for people living in the slums. Plus, the current curfew and imminent COVID-19 lockdown will prove absolutely debilitating to the poor, especially to afford and receive convenient healthcare.
- RUN Hospital will provide high-quality healthcare for those afflicted by COVID-19 in the nearby slums.

Funding Goal
Our goal is to help fund COVID-19 medical supplies and equipment enabling RUN Hospital to provide healthcare to the vulnerable people in one of the largest slums in Nairobi. RUN Hospital needs to raise a total of $ 170k for absolute essential medical supplies and equipment in order to prepare the hospital for COVID-19 patients.
Our target is to raise $ 10,312 towards this cause, including the following items:
Masks with filters = $ 2,800 (350 items required)
10 masks = $ 80
Surgical masks = $ 1,200 (200 items required)
10 masks = $ 60
Gloves = $ 1,650 (150 boxes required )
5 boxes of gloves = $ 55
Concentrated liquid oxygen cylinder = $ 850 (5 items required)
1 oxygen cylinder = $ 170
Infrared thermometer = $ 375 (5 items required)
1 thermometer $ 75
Aspirator tube = $ 3,437 (7 items required)
1 Aspirator tube = $ 491
Total = $ 10,312

Impact
RUN Hospital will ramp up and be prepared to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic providing safe working conditions for medical staff to continually serve the patients, thus curbing the impact of the virus by providing high-quality healthcare to the extremely vulnerable people in the adjacent slums.
