Emmett’s Road to Recovery
Donation protected
My name is Desiree Michaud, I am from Frenchtown, MT & Jesse is a dear friend of mine. Our boys have been friends for over 8 years. During that time, Jesse & I have developed a friendship. We have spent many hours on bleachers, ride sharing to practices, coordinating sleepovers & following our boys from one sport to the next, the first beginning with soccer when the boys were just 5. If I need something, Jesse is always there. It seems like I’m always looking for what gym or field we’re playing on, Jesse is the first person I call. The “momsquad” can always count on Jesse to capture our sons play of the game on film, without fail, every time. Jesse is kind & giving & never puts herself first. Speaking for all of Jesse’s friends & myself, we appreciate & love her. This go fund me account was created so Jesse can be by Emmett’s side for as long as it takes him to heal, get better & come home. I want her & Emmett to be able to focus on recovering & knowing that there is help financially will make that easier. Funds donated will be used for lost wages, living & travel expenses. Jesse was finally able to get into an extended stay studio. She has use of it until December 10th. If another family is on the waiting list, she will have to give it up & find somewhere else to stay. There will be travel expenses to go back & forth to Seattle. Right now, Jesse is alone in Seattle. At some point, when Emmett is more stable, she would like to switch with a family member & come home for a few days to see her two younger boys, Sully & Kaine who she is missing terribly. Once Emmett is able to come home, he will have many more trips to Seattle for procedures & follow ups. All of the funds donated go directly into a personal account for Jesse.
Jesse is so grateful to everyone who has donated! Thank you. Thank you for helping her focus on Emmett & thank you for lifting some of her financial burden.

Emmett was burned pretty severely from the waist up when he tripped into a fire on Monday, November 19th. He was flown to Seattle Monday morning and he’s in the ICU of the burn unit at Harborview Medical. He had a huge surgery on Tuesday so they could remove most of the burned skin from his stomach/chest/arms. He tolerated that very well. They put some temporary grafts on and he will have many more surgeries over the next couple months.
He is extremely swollen and his eyes are swollen shut. He is also on a ventilator until the swelling goes down. At the start they were worried about his kidneys due to his body using all of his fluids for fighting against the trauma of the burn. However, that is going good and they’ve continued to reduce the fluids they are giving him which will also help the swelling go down.
He is impressing the doctors and nurses. He is helpful and doesn’t complain. We’ve never ever been more proud of him.
They said he is doing better than expected, but has a long long way to go. Monday night he motioned that he wanted to write so even though he can’t see or talk, he can communicate. Which is so huge for Jesse, Emmett’s mom. He asks about people, makes a joke here and there & lets them know when he’s anxious or needs suction etc.
The plan today is to get him sitting up for a bit. Pretty sure he’ll kick ass at that too.
EVERYONE here is so amazing. He has had some of the best nurses. We are absolutely in the right place to get him taken care of.
Emmett’s wonderful mom, Jesse has not left his side. As a result of this tragic accident, many expenses will be incurred. Emmett is facing many months of surgeries & recovery. Please consider a donation to Emmett’s recovery. Even the smallest amount is helpful.
Jesse would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support & well wishes she has been receiving for Emmett & her family. Her heart is breaking for her sweet Emmett & she misses her two youngest sons, Sully & Kaine terribly. With your support, we can help ease the financial burden so Emmett & his family can focus on his healing & recovery. Thank you again for all of your prayers & support! ❤️
*updates on Emmett’s condition will be posted daily.
