Hello my name is Traniece Thomas I am the mother of a beautiful intelligent little girl by the name of Terria Latchinson, Terria is my everything my all... as a parent the worst thing that a doctor can tell you is that your child would not be able to see or lose full vision by the age of 5 to hear those words ...crumbled my heart shattered my soul, my baby at such a young age so small I had no choice but to wonder where did I go wrong what could I have done ,my daughter was born with retinal coloboma retinal coloboma is when a baby eye does not develop properly during pregnancy this condition occurs in about 1 to 100,000 births.... And yes my Terria was 1 of those birth's. As my daughter got older her left eye begin to give her a lot of problems Terria will come to me and tell me things like I can't see you out of this Eye or she would say that her head was hurting by actually it was her left eye hurting or she would say I can only see lights so I took her to her Doctor that's when he told me that my daughter had begun to leak fluids from her brain into a hole in the back of her eye which is a part of her retinal coloboma the fluids will come in and out they will move around in her eye as if it was a river sometimes she is able to see out of the eye and sometimes she isn't at this time we was told to take her to California to the Children's Hospital located in Los Angeles which we did when we arrived her doctor Dr. Lee informed us that he will be doing a surgery and while doing the surgery that he would place in a band around Terria's left eye which would cause the fluid to stop leaking from her brain into her hole which means that her vision would be OK.... about two months later my daughter came to me once again and told me the same thing "mommy I cannot see out of my left eye" I contacted her doctor as soon as possible we went in the very next morning that's when he told me that the band that the doctor had placed in when we went out to California was deattaching itself which means the fluids were back into her eye and that's why she couldn't see because the fluids was blocking her vision. so once again we have to leave go out to California but this time the doctor didn't want to do another surgery because it was too soon she had just had one surgery prior to this 2 months ago and he said he just didn't want to keep cutting on her at such a young age but if need be in the situation was to change he would do a surgery but he said he wanted to give it time to see if things could get better. July 27th I took Terria to see her doctor just for a check up at this visit her doctor informed me that Terria left eye had fluids, inflammation and to much haze and that it may be infected in she needs to get to California right away to see her doctor he told me that he was going to give her doctor a call and he will contact me later on that day well later on that day came and he did, when her doctor called me back he informed me that they needed to see Terria right away in California Los Angeles to perform another surgery so that matters will not get worse. As a mother I would not wish this condition on my worst enemy let alone a chid. In 2010 my son was diagnosed with cancer that's when I found out how strong cancer organizations are all over the world when my daughter was diagnosed with this condition I was told that there is no cure there is nothing that they can do about it there are no organizations for my child, I as a parent plan on changing this one day. I ask my daughter daily every minute every second how are your eyes doing are you okay can you see just fine because at any given moment her vision can be taken away from her at least that's what her doctor says but the doctor that I know and serve always says different and always has the last word God has been so good to us and I know with him by our side we will be able to do anything and get through anything I'm not asking for much but anything that you can and may have to donate I'm asking that you please do just to help me get my daughter to California for her surgery please and thank you
