Hi there -- my name is Teddy Ricker and I have the honor to be a "brother" to Maylena Rinda. I’ve created this GoFundMe to try to muster up some help for one of the absolute best families I have ever met.

Starting in early 2022, Maylena began developing a bad migraine that she just couldn't shake. She would also start to lose sensitivity in her lips and face, and some control over her right eye. After over 4 months of being unable to get rid of this migraine, and countless visits to doctors and hospitals, she would eventually get back test results in early July that would find tumors on her brain.

This led to many more tests/scans/biopsies that were used to officially diagnose Maylena on July 14, 2022 with cancer: multiple myeloma. Multiple Myeloma is a rare blood cancer affecting the plasma cells. (A link about the cancer is provided below.)

Her fight against cancer is a big one. Every dollar that’s donated to this fundraiser will go towards alleviating some of the many financial stressors she and her family will face in the coming months. The amount of unpaid time needed to support Maylena’s successful recovery is something that we don’t want her or her husband to have to worry about. Simple, yet important things such as making sure there is gas in the car to drive to/from treatments, that the kitchen is always stocked, the bills are paid, her children have the school supplies they need to start a new year..all to make sure her focus is solely on kicking this cancer in the ass.

This amazing friend, sister, daughter, wife and mother is a FIGHTER. Less than one week after diagnosis, Maylena started on an aggressive treatment plan of radiation and chemotherapy. As one of the strongest, bravest, most resilient, badass women we know, this Disney-loving, belly-laughing, family-centric, self proclaimed “big kid” has so much life left to live.

If you have the ability to help, especially as this family puts its’ all into her fight, it would mean the world to us. Coming from a strongly competitive, board-game playing family, Maylena is trained in winning. This is just one of life’s awful games, and we will help this gorgeous person “pass Go”, “collect $200” and win. We are TEAM MAYLENA and we lift her up and support her in this fight against multiple myeloma.
