Help us help Red recover

Meet Red our beloved family pet. Red is not only a great companion to our four and two year old kids but also a very big part of our family. He is a house dog and is only let out to do his duties or when he is on a leash ready to go on walks that he enjoys so much. Wednesday he was let out to go potty. Fifteen minutes past and he still hadn't knocked on our window like he normally did signaling that he was ready to come in. We didn't think much of it and assumed he was sun bathing like he sometimes enjoyed doing. Another twenty minutes past when we got a knock on our front door. I opened only to receive a horrific news from our neighbors. Not only did Red chew threw the chicken wire on our fence and cut his tongue. He managed to get out and get hit by a woman driving a black Jeep. I ran out to search for my baby by this time the woman had already drove off. As I turn to my left I saw my boy Red, my late night walk companion, my third child as I like to call him passed out on our front lawn. Behind me was my four year old son completely broken by the critical condition that his beloved pet was in. I honestly don't know what broke my heart more; seeing my poor boy Red in desperate need of medical attention or seeing the helpless look on my boy Aidan's face as he frantically ran to his dogs aid. Both brought a tremendous amount of pain to my heart. I immediately headed to the nearest Animal hospital with my two boys. I was told by doctors that he was in really bad shape and that in total we where looking at spending over 1500 dollars just to keep him stable over night and having xrays done . I was honest and said I only had 400 dollars for treatment. After a few phone calls to friends and family we were able to raise 1000 dollars to keep him hospitalized over night not including xrays. The next morning doctors knowing our financial hardship adviced us to take Red to a low cost clinic for further treatment. Before we were allowed to leave with Red we had to pay the remaining balance leaving us with 200 dollars for any further treatment that still needed to be done such as a CBC test, blood work , xrays, casting, ect. At this point me and my husband start considering surrendering him to the hospital. How where we going to pay for the remaining treatment? How are we gonna explain to our kids we couldn't afford to help their beloved buddy Red? What should we do? After ten short minutes of discussion we come to a conclusion that Red is too big a part of the family to just be surrendered. We take off to the clinic with our last 200 dollars in our pocket and our injured baby in our arms hoping for the best. Unfortunately the office visit itself was 59 dollars and the xray on his paw was 90. He still needs a full body xray to be done to check for anything that might be broken or any internal bleeding not to mention the cost to fix any problem that they might find. I never imagined my family and I to be in this situation and the last thing I wanted to ever do is beg for financial help. For my boy Red I'll do all the begging in the world just to make sure he comes out of this situation safe and sound. If you are reading my story and find it in your heart to help us get Red the treatment he still needs I will thank you from the bottom of my heart and if you send me your contact information I will find a way to make it up to you!! Thank you for your time. -Nadia
