Hi. My name is Arthur and I am fundraising for my mom. I want to share my moms long journey as a result of the west Nile’s virus.

Eva was a healthy and active person. She was working and taking take of her son while her husband worked nights at Ford. She also coached soccer for Dyer Kickers. In addition, worked at Advanced Bank for 7 years and 3 months for a Daycare at Protsman Elementary School.

In 2004 Eva didn’t feel good one night. She woke up early in the morning with a really bad headache from temple to temple. Her vision wasn't clear when she tried looking at the clock.

She immediately went to the ER. Her sugar and blood pressure was too high. After a few days in the hospital,the doctors decided to do a spinal tap and sent it to University of Chicago. The spinal tap came back positive for the West Niles virus to confirm that Eva had West Nile's, the doctor wanted to do another spinal tap with the second test coming back positive. Eva spent 5 weeks in the hospital with temperatures over 100 degrees along with high blood pressure and sugars.

Because of the west niles virus, she had some after effects to her body. One of them was She was deemed legally blind. She had multiple surgeries on both eyes,25 to be exact. The laser surgeries were performed due to bleeding on the retina.

After 17 years Eva was admitted to the Hospital in December 2021 for kidney failure and has been on dialysis ever since. She goes 3 days a week. It will be a full 2 years this coming December.

How will funds be used?

Eva has found out, she has the opportunity to receive a kidney transplant from the university of Chicago However, there are some costs involved that insurance and the hospital doesn’t cover,for; example, hotel stays for her son driving back-and-forth, parking and meals on a regular basis for follow up visits for a year after surgery.
