In October 2025, I was a normal 45 year old woman. By November I had abdominal swelling that wasn’t going away. I was admitted to the hospital where I had 3 liters of fluid removed from my abdomen, 700 milliliters remove from around my left lung and I am scheduled to have more fluid removed here shortly. My kidneys took a hit while in the hospital that we had to correct after my discharge as well. The fluid and biopsy was sent to the Mayo Clinic for final review. After weeks of testing, on December 31st, 2025 I was diagnosed with an incredibly rare and aggressive cancer, NUT Carcinoma (NC).

There is no cure or treatment for this cancer, only supportive care at this point. The survival rate is incredibly low; most will only make it one year, only 5% will make it to year five. However, there are clinical trials that are showing promise of slowing the rapid growth of this cancer. One is at Northwestern in Chicago and the other is at Harvard in Boston. Of the two, my Oncologist said the Boston trial would be preferred.

In order for me to be part of the trial I would have to move there. Realistically,I do not have the means to do so at this time. I am working on going there soon for a consult, hopefully within the next week or so.

Because this cancer is so aggressive, I begin chemotherapy treatment tomorrow, January 2nd, 2026. This will be my first step in trying to slow down this cancer to give myself a fighting chance.

I understand everyone is struggling and going through something. If you could help with getting me to Boston (treatments, housing, etc.) I would be eternally grateful for your generosity.

Love you all,
Amanda ❤️
