UPDATE FROM BRITTANEY 5/27/23:
Final update. Today May 27th will forever be the worst day of my life. My best friend took his last breath at 6:44am this morning. He was surrounded by family and knew how much we all loved him. He fought so hard but his body couldn’t take any more. I’m grateful to have spent the last 9 years with my best friend but especially the last 28 days with him in the hospital even if he was sick he was still there by my side. Im not sure what life will look like now but damn I never thought it would look like this. I can’t imagine life without him, his laugh, smile, sense of humor and his love for all animals. I miss him so much already. It doesn’t seem real. I ask that you please give our families the time to be together and grieve. At this time we ask that you not reach out via phone or text. It is very overwhelming and we are still processing what happened to us. At this time we need to be together.
All funds raised will be going towards bills, housing, meals and funeral services. Thank you all so much!
5/16/23: As some of you may know, Mike (30yo) has been in the hospital since 4/30/23. He was feeling off for about a month prior, so he went to get bloodwork done per doctor‘s recommendation. After lab work came back, both Mike and his wife Brittaney received a call from the doctor in the middle of the night, advising them to head to the hospital immediately. Mike appeared to be in acute renal failure. Once they made it to the ER, Mike was quickly transferred by life line to another hospital where he could be admitted to the ICU. He was stable for two days and then moved to a lower level, but still continued to be highly monitored. Mike had remained there for two weeks. Unfortunately, early yesterday morning, Mike had extremely low oxygen and blood pressure levels . At that time, Mike was treated by the rapid response team and transferred to the progressive care unit. After intense monitoring, multiple rounds of dialysis, a biopsy of his kidneys, blood tests every six hours, and multiple other tests being done, they still do not have any specific answers as to what’s happening or why he continues to decline. The doctors would like to complete a bone biopsy and liver biopsy as there are signs that his liver is failing. However, his blood platelets are too low in order to have the biopsies done. He was just transferred back to the ICU again today. Mike is no longer mobile and barely able to speak or understand where he is. This was all very unexpected and happened so quickly. Brittaney has been by Mike’s side constantly for the past several weeks. With Mike in the hospital and Brittaney also being off of work, medical bills and living expenses are accumulating. This will become even more overwhelming once their FMLA ends. To make matters worse, Mike and Brittaney were supposed to close on their first home at the end of May. This was supposed to be an exciting time in their lives. They officially lost the house two days ago due to being on FMLA with their jobs. If you have ever met Mike and Brittaney, you’d know that they are the most selfless, caring, and kind-hearted people. They have always shown up for others, no questions asked. If you are unable to help them out financially, please please send tons of love their way and pray for comfort and healing.
