Help Launch CortiCheck: A Lifesaving Tool for Rare Disease Warriors

Every day, patients with Adrenal Insufficiency face life-threatening cortisol crashes known as an Adrenal Crisis—with no way to monitor their levels in real time. CortiCheck is here to change that.

We’re working to develop a handheld, portable blood test cortisol monitor—created by and for the rare disease community—but before we can bring it to the world, we need your help laying the foundation.

What This Campaign Funds

We’re raising $80,000 to support the foundational work that keeps CortiCheck moving forward and positions us for larger-scale funding:

Consortium development and coordination (bringing together scientists, clinicians, advocates, and industry)

Legal and regulatory groundwork (FDA strategy, IP consultation, compliance)

Partnership-building and outreach with academic and industry collaborators

Visual design and early concept prototyping

Kickstarter campaign development (copy, brand story, video)

Beginning R&D with new partners

Essential overhead and coordination time to sustain the project between funding milestones

Why It Matters

CortiCheck isn’t just a device—it’s a movement. It’s a tool patients, physicians, and researchers have needed for decades—one that empowers people with real-time data to detect danger before it turns into disaster.

This project is being led by the rare disease advocates behind Adrenal Insufficiency United, under a new innovation hub: United4Rare LLC.

Our original scientific team unfortunately lost a key NIH grant to clawback, and our crowdfunding efforts to keep them in place as scientific leads have not met the level needed. That means we’ve had to pivot—yet we are not giving up. We are actively exploring all possible partnerships, academic to industry, to bring CortiCheck forward.
