Saying Goodbye to Our Friend Val

Meet my friend, Val Hoffman. I met Val 12 years ago, while an ER nurse in our crappy but well loved community hospital. She is compassionate, smart, funny and a true friend. EVERYONE loves Val. This was seen in her skyrocketing from floor nurse to manager to administration. Val can take any situation and bring ease and grace, making life so much more bearable in a busy hospital setting. But Val got a shitty deal. 8 years ago Val went through genetic testing and was found to have the Hereditary Diffuse Gastric Cancer gene. This is a horrible finding and required her to have her stomach removed. As well as a bilateral mastectomy. She had every post surgery complication but came out on the other end -her funny, cynical, intelligent self. But life has a way of being a dick. Val lived her life to the fullest but not having a major organ caught up with her and she started to decline. Val then had COVID 3 times which took another major hit to her health. She has tried to start back to work but then becomes sick again. Val has been out of work for some time. Kirk her loving, devoted husband has been by her side and has already taken off of work and has no more sick time left. Kirk is a hospice nurse and his caring and compassion is truly amazing to see. They currently have no income. They also have a 12 year old at home. Val has been plagued by so many ailments. We just want our Val back and full of life.
