Dakota Brooks is a 22 year old from Wolfe County, Ky. He is an avid artist who has aspirations of going into web design. He was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2022. Dakota suffers from a genetic condition, Neurofibromatosis (NF) that causes the growth of fatty tumors in the nervous system affecting the brain, spinal cord and nerves. He endured brain surgery to remove the tumor, but unfortunately, only a portion of the tumor was able to be removed. Dakota then began radiation and chemotherapy in 2024. Sadly, he has become seriously ill with secondary infections and is currently admitted to the UK Chandler Medical Center's Intensive Care Unit. He is battling Pneumocystis pneumonia which is a fungal infection of the lungs. His parents, Travis and Mindy Dickey are working full time positions while taking care of an elderly family member and Dakota's brother, Seth who requires special care.
