Lebanon Explosion Relief

Donation protected

Hi everyone. My name is Charbel and my wife is Patty. I am a Lebanese Canadian  living in Toronto, Canada with my wife and kids. Like everyone we have watched the news from Beirut in disbelief. I grew up in Lebanon and the country is near and dear to me. I’ve travelled there frequently with my wife and have made countless memories. We've experienced good times like the warmth of the water, heat of the sun, and the night life of Beirut. We have also experienced bad times like the 2015 once in a lifetime sand storm! The sand storm doesn’t seem so bad now in comparison.  The one thing I can tell you about the Lebanese people, is that they are kind and resilient.

Beirut, a special city for many of us is now in ruins after suffering a catastrophic explosion in its port. The explosion has killed dozens and injured thousands as well as destroyed tremendous amount of property including hospitals. Some hospitals are having to resort to treating patients in parking lots. There  are report of patients not being able to get care due to hospitals being destroyed or overwhelmed. There are report of children undergoing cancer treatments being pulled out of hospitals by their parents. The magnitude of destruction is historic and has left many people homeless and in despair.

This disaster could not have come at worst time! Lebanon was already suffering from the worst financial and political crisis in decades, with people short on money and hope. To make matters worse the Covid-19 crisis had added mental and financial stress to an already struggling society.

The residents of Beirut need our help! Please consider contributing if you can. The money raised will be distributed amongst smaller non profit organizations (NGO's) operating in the city.  The NGO's will be selected based on their local reputation to make sure the money raised gets to the people who need it. The money will be donated directly through the NGO's website or by bank transfer to make sure it reaches its destination. Money will also be donated to local hospitals extensively damaged from the explosion directly through their website as well as first responders.

The objective here is to help the local population get threw this with dignity, as best as we can, in good times and in bad.

For all of you who have graciously offered to help, and for those of you considering, here is a list of who we intend on donating the money too. This list is vetted to our best ability and will be updated regularly.
