I was going to ask my husband to make this for me because I thought it might be a bit tacky to make a gofundme for myself but I want to express my need with my own voice so here goes.
Hello, for those who do not know me I’m Evangeline Rose-Boiko (Eva for short). I’m a Transfem Drag Queen from New Paltz NY.
What I want is intimidating to ask for and downright terrifying to go through with, but as I hit my sixth month on HRT it has become downright impossible to ignore the need for it.
Like other aspects of transness, medical transitioning exists on a spectrum. Each path is unique to the individual walking it. Some trans people find their true selves through HRT alone, others need surgery, some don’t feel the need to medically transition at all, some also need to spend unimaginable amounts of time and money on what feels like endless medical and cosmetic procedures to find what they need. Unfortunately I belong to that last subset of trans people.
This gofundme is intended to pay for two major pieces in my transition, and a few minor ones, as well as potentially set up a ground floor for another major piece in the future. All the money will be put in a savings account to collect interest and be used only for transition needs. Here’s what I need why I need it, and how much it’s going to cost me.

- Laser hair removal - $2300
I just had my first laser hair removal consultation at Romeo and Juliette and received an estimate for what I would need in order to fully remove the hair from my face and neck. This is the most immediately pressing thing for me. I can’t leave the house without shaving anymore, the way it effects the world’s perception of me is torture, and the physical sensation of having it on my face is a constant reminder of that. I received the information that I could complete my laser therapy in one year. The price is steep but the quicker I no longer have to deal with this problem the better.
- Hair Graft Surgery - $14000
This is the big one. Since about the age of nineteen my hair has been thinning and receding. I wear a wig or a hat everywhere I go, I do my best to not let anyone, even people intimately close to me see my hair. Being a trans woman with male pattern baldness creates this excruciating form of cognitive dissonance that has lead to the only suicidal feelings I’ve had since my teenage years. I really cannot keep going like this, I’ve researched non surgical methods to no avail, this is really my only option and it is practically never covered by insurance.
- Non medical cosmetic procedures - 2000
This is a bit simpler and less outright depressing than the rest. Little things like eyelash extensions, body waxing, acrylic nails, human hair wigs etc have been such a blessing for me during my early transition. They’re pricy to upkeep but not surgery pricy, and they help me keep going day to day feeling okay about myself. These are necessities while I wait for my more long term transition goals to come to fruition.
- Emergencies/foundations for ffs - $4000
Transitioning is an unpredictable and often tumultuous experience. Everything I want comes along with risks and I want to be prepared in the event one of these risks becomes my reality. Hopefully they won’t, however, and if they don’t this money will go towards facial feminization surgery down the line, which would be really nice!!!
I’m hoping this gofundme will be complete by this time next year (which is when I’m hoping to have my hair grafts done. Please donate and share this with your communities and help me move through this life a more confident happy and self assured person.
