Jose and his Family need help

Donation protected
My name is Louise and I am trying to help raise money for my young friend Jose and his incredible family. Jose has been battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia since April.

I first met Jose when he was just eight years old, and I’ve watched him grow into an amazing young man. He is hard-working, an honor student, and trained in kickboxing at Totality Martial Arts, as well as being a soccer star in his high school. He has a genuine kindness that shines through in everything he does. Jose taught himself how to play the piano and guitar on You-tube! He writes music and started his own band. Before his illness, Jose performed with his band on weekends while in high school and juggled two jobs.

Jose was set to graduate from Rappahannock High School in June, 2024, but in May he was finally diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and was unable to attend his graduation. This frightening news halted all his plans to go to college on scholarship, because his oncologists wanted to begin inpatient chemotherapy immediately. His parents and two younger sisters are a very close knit family and they stood by his side, ready to do whatever it took. They chose to stay in the hospital with him and sleep there at night to remain close. Then they were able to move into Ronald McDonald House at Inove Fairfax for a month and a half.

During his chemo, Jose developed a dangerous e-coli bacterial infection in his leg and in his blood. A condition that was initially feared fatal. He was put under sedation in ICU for six days. He had to have four surgeries to remove the bacteria - and then plastic surgery with multiple skin grafts.

Jose's leukemia treatment was paused while he fought the infection. And now he is home and seems to have finally turned a corner. He is able to walk, and put away the wheel chair. Now he requires more aggressive chemo – which means 90-minute drives to the hospital in Fairfax four days a week for 6 hours of chemotherapy. His chemotherapy treatment will continue for 2 1/2 years.

Despite all this, Jose has remained remarkably positive and uncomplaining - always finding ways to lift the spirits of his family. He is keeping busy composing and recording music, and he is teaching his sister to play the 5 string electric bass guitar.

But his parents have been unable to work throughout Jose's medical journey, and the financial burden has been devastating!

So, I along with his high school, I am reaching out to ask for your support through this Go Fund Me Campaign. Your donations will make a significant difference in the lives of this loving, hardworking, and generous family. They've always been there for others, never expecting anything in return. So, I know your contributions and prayers will be greatly appreciated AND received with immense gratitude.
