Waldo is 12 years old and the best friend of my 14 year old (Em). Though he's the family's dog, we all know who his favourite is, and who my kiddo's favourite is too! Em has been through A LOT in their short life. Waldo has been there with them: loving, licking, and providing peace and support.
As he's gotten older, Waldo has developed some lipomas, which are common in dogs of his age. Unfortunately, he has also recently developed an external tumour on his rear right leg. It's small, but needs to be removed because it's bothering him. He won't stop licking/biting at it, possibly leading to blood loss or infection.
We've just received the surgery quote, and it isn't doable for our family right now. After experiencing some financial setbacks early in the year, I then contracted covid and developed long covid. I've been off work since June and barely have the funds to scrape by on rent and car payments - food, gas, etc are all extras I try to afford at this stage. So, we just have no room in the budget for this surgery.
Em is experiencing a lot of anxiety and worry for their best friend. The sooner we can get this fixed before it turns into an emergency situation, the better.
All funds raised will go towards Waldo's surgery. I'm raising for the high estimate, but if the actual cost is lower than funds raised I will redirect extras to other animal-based fundraisers.
