A week before Thanksgiving, Manny reported to work as he always does since joining the Assembly & Deployment team at Citibke in 2017, doing a job he loves alongside a group of people he loves working with. His day proceeded as it normally does, doing inventory and completing other daily tasks in the Forrest Warehouse. As his day progressed he began feeling weary until suddenly, near the end of his shift, what felt like a sharp punch hit him square in the chest.
His co-workers jumped to his aid; they seated him safely and called an ambulance. The EMT’s arrived quickly and stabilized him, but told him that he would need to come with them to the hospital for further tests. The doctors determined that he had suffered a heart attack, his arteries were 95% blocked, and he would need to undergo a procedure in order to clear the blockage. Afterwards, he was sent home and put on prescription medication critical to preventing another heart attack.
The cost of these procedures and medications rapidly added up. Manny appreciates all the help he’s received so far, but still has a large financial burden to work through. He’s grateful to be alive, despite the doctor imposed diet, and feels fortunate that it happened at work so that he got the help he needed.
