My name is Mario and I come to you on behalf of my sister Sandra and her family in this time of need. We are raising funds for my beloved 18-year-old niece Nicole, who suffered a stroke the day they were due to come back from visiting family in Colombia (10/29/2025).

Since, Nicole has undergone 2 brain surgeries and has a catheter in her skull to help drain fluids from her brain to treat the inflammation she has. She is currently in an induced coma and is expected to remain this way for at least another 72 hours. There is a possibility that she may require further interventions given her condition.

We have now come to learn that Nicole was born with a congenital condition where her blood vessels are weaker than the norm and therefore caused a malformation leading to this tragic event. Nothing could have prepared her or our family for this as it could have happened at any given time.

The future for Nicole is still very uncertain as there is no way of knowing the neurological consequences this may have until she is fully awake. However, her medical team is very optimistic given her age as well as the response she has had so far.

My sister and her family currently reside in Georgia but given this tragic event, they have had to delay their return indefinitely, leaving them with very limited resources. As expected, medical bills are starting to accumulate mainly because they do not reside in Colombia and, as a result, do not have health insurance to cover the medical expenses already incurred or any other future ones. The clinic where she is currently being treated is asking for exorbitant amounts of money each time they need to conduct any type of tests or further interventions.

This painful and unexpected event has been devastating to all of us as a family. No one saw this coming. How could a young lady like Nicole, full of life and otherwise healthy, suffer such a tragic event. We pray to Jehovah God that she is able to overcome this tragedy. We also thank each and everyone of you for your countless prayers and thank you in advance for your generosity in helping them navigate through this difficult time.

Me llamo Mario y me dirijo a ustedes en nombre de mi hermana Sandra y su familia en estos momentos difíciles. Estamos recaudando fondos para mi querida sobrina Nicole, de 18 años, quien sufrió un derrame cerebral el día que debían regresar de visitar a su familia en Colombia (29/10/2025).

Desde entonces, Nicole ha sido sometida a dos cirugías cerebrales y tiene un catéter en el cráneo para drenar el líquido cefalorraquídeo y tratar la inflamación cerebral. Actualmente se encuentra en coma inducido y se espera que permanezca así durante al menos 72 horas más. Existe la posibilidad de que requiera más intervenciones debido a su estado.

Ahora sabemos que Nicole nació con una afección congénita que debilita sus vasos sanguíneos, lo que provocó una malformación que derivó en este trágico suceso. Nada nos preparó para esto, ni a ella ni a nuestra familia, ya que podría haber ocurrido en cualquier momento.

El futuro de Nicole sigue siendo muy incierto, ya que no hay forma de conocer las consecuencias neurológicas que esto pueda tener hasta que despierte por completo. Sin embargo, su equipo médico es muy optimista dada su edad y la respuesta que ha tenido hasta ahora.

Mi hermana y su familia residen actualmente en Georgia, pero debido a este trágico suceso, han tenido que posponer su regreso indefinidamente, lo que los deja con recursos muy limitados. Como era de esperar, las facturas médicas se están acumulando, principalmente porque no residen en Colombia y, por lo tanto, no tienen seguro médico que cubra los gastos médicos ya incurridos ni los futuros. La clínica donde recibe tratamiento actualmente exige cantidades exorbitantes de dinero cada vez que necesitan realizar cualquier tipo de prueba o intervención.

Este doloroso e inesperado suceso ha sido devastador para toda nuestra familia. Nadie lo vio venir. ¿Cómo es posible que una joven como Nicole, llena de vida y con buena salud, sufra una tragedia así? Oramos a Jehová Dios para que pueda superar esta tragedia. También les agradecemos a todos y cada uno de ustedes sus innumerables oraciones y les agradecemos de antemano su generosidad para ayudarlos a sobrellevar este difícil momento.
