New York City has become the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic. As of April 14, over 100,000 cases have been reported with more than 30,000 patients hospitalized and hundreds lost to the virus every day. COVID-19 is placing enormous strain on hospitals, which now face severe shortages of personal protective equipment (PPE) like masks and respirators.
Supplying enough PPE is a matter of life or death. Medical workers are putting their lives on the line to save ours, working 14-hour shifts for as many as seven days a week. Without adequate PPE, medical staff are exposed to the virus and risk spreading the infection further.
We have access to a minimum of 10,000 N95 masks to donate to the hardest-hit hospitals in New York City. We need your help to procure the masks and deliver them to the hospitals.
If you are able, please contribute what you can. And please share this fundraiser as broadly as possible!
What We Need
Initial Goal: We have secured a shipment of 10,000 N95 masks (3M 1860) at a rate of $2.10/mask (includes delivery). The first $21,000 raised will procure and deliver the masks to NYC hospitals.
Subsequent Goals: Any amount raised in excess of the initial goal will procure additional N95 masks for donation. We will update this page regularly.
Where Your Donation Will Go
We plan to deliver the first 10,000 masks to hospitals serving the hardest-hit areas in NYC:
- Elmhurst Hospital (Queens)
- Montefiore Medical Center (Bronx)
- Jacobi Medical Center (Bronx)
- NYU Bellevue (serving many of NYC's homeless patients)
We will communicate with hospital staff and continuously monitor GetUsPPE 's database to stay up-to-date on hospitals in need of donations. In the event that we secure additional masks, we will update this page to reflect any additional hospitals we donate to.
Expected Timeline
The masks are expected to arrive in New York within 4-5 days of procurement, so the sooner we can complete fundraising, the sooner we can protect our frontline medical professionals and, in turn, our loved ones, our communities, and ourselves.
No matter how much you give, know that you are making a difference. If you’re not able to donate at this time, you can help by sharing this fundraiser and continuing to stay home if your work allows. If you’re an essential worker who has to be out there, thank you! Together, we can prove (yet again) that we’re #NYTOUGH.
