We are the RHDSEP (Red Hook Diabetes Support & Education Program), a community group that meets regularly to learn and talk about diabetes, health, and wellness.
Our group welcomes everyone, and has regular presentations from health care providers, diabetes experts, local pharmacists, and more.
On March 11th, we have been invited by the American Diabetes Association to have a booth at their annual Patient Expo at the Javits Center in NYC to showcase our community efforts.
In celebration of this event, we kicked off a call-to-action on February 11th, our goals are to:
- Walk 1,000,000 steps
- Recruit 50 community members to the Patient Expo for free health screenings
Pledge to support us as we step to meet our goals!
Funds raised will go to:
Defray event costs
- Transportation for community members to and from the Javits Center
- Pedometers
- Booth costs, (insurance, banners, handouts)
&
Long-term RHDSEP program planning
- AADE training for community members
- Supplies for community members (sugar test strips, meters)
- Partner programming (cooking, health fairs)
Your pledge will mean more community members trained to lead programming, and more programming!
