Kim's Loving Friends Cancer/Surgery Fund

Our Dear Friend was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer when she was 34 years old. When she was 38 her cancer metastasized into her brain and lungs. She underwent an invasive brain surgery and the brain tumor was successfully removed. Since the tumor was sitting on the motor strip for the right side of her body she woke up from surgery with her entire left leg completely numb. Thankfully, about 90% of her feeling returned and we watched as she battled to re-learn how to walk. A year after her ordeal her scans showed another brain tumor on the right side of her cerebellum. This past June she underwent Gamma Knife Surgery (SRS) which is an isolated radiation treatment that targets the tumor. Her most recent scans (October) showed 7 spots on her brain. Her only option is Gamma Knife Surgery and Blue Cross Blue Shield has DENIED her coverage for her previous gamma knife surgeries. This surgery is the only option to extend her life. What is insurance worth if it isn't there for you when you're sick? Insurance companies don't have a problem collecting our monthly payments, but when she needs it the most, Blue Cross Blue Shield has decided her life isn't worth the investment. I don't know WHY we don't have a cure for cancer, but I do know this surgery is her ONLY OPTION. Please help see her 40th birthday.
