Healing and Recovery Costs

The Highland Park shooting on July 4, 2022, was horrific. The tragic event impacted one of our ex-colleagues, Margo McCarthy, in a manner unfathomable.

Most of you are familiar with the little boy, Aiden McCarthy, who lost both parents in the senseless shooting on July 4th. Margo is Aiden’s paternal grandmother, and Kevin McCarthy, Aiden’s deceased father, was Margo’s beloved son. Irina McCarthy, Aiden’s deceased mother, was Margo’s treasured daughter-in-law.

Not only is Margo grieving the loss of her son and daughter-in-law, but she is also healing from her own injuries. Margo was in attendance at the parade with Kevin, Irina, and Aiden on that awful day and was also shot. Margo was struck by a bullet that hit near her ear and passed through her neck, and thankfully, no major blood vessels or nerves were damaged. This GoFundMe is explicitly dedicated to Margo's healing and recovery needs.

Please know Margo was a valued colleague at Aon, based out of the Lincolnshire office, from 2006 to 2020. She retired during COVID to spend more time with her family and be the caregiver for Aiden several days per week while Kevin and Irina worked. During her time at Aon, Margo was a delight. Anyone who worked with Margo would describe her as fair, kind, knew-her-stuff, great sense of humor, always laughing, and “one of the good ones.” The team is heartbroken to know she is emotionally and physically in so much pain. Margo is still, and will always be, part of the Aon family.

On behalf of Margo McCarthy, and with her permission, we are establishing this fundraiser to show our support. We ask for donations to assist in her healing and recovery needs, including the medical, funeral, and living costs.
