Still can’t believe what happened. We walked into the USCIS office Tuesday morning thinking it was just a normal marriage-based green card interview. We were nervous, yes, but also hopeful. We did everything the right way. Every document, every photo, every step was done legally, with honesty and trust in the system.
But in just a few minutes, everything turned into a nightmare.
During the interview, an officer stepped out, and suddenly ICE was involved. Before we even understood what was happening, they detained him right there inside the USCIS building. One moment we were answering questions about our relationship, and the next moment he was being taken away—no goodbye, no explanation, nothing. Watching him walk out surrounded by officers broke something in me. My heart dropped. I felt helpless, confused, and terrified all at once.
We weren’t expecting this. No one warned us. He overstayed in the past, yes—but he was already fixing his status through the legal process. We showed up to do the right thing, and instead of being allowed to continue the process, he was taken straight into immigration detention.
Now we are fighting to get him out, and the only way is through an immigration bond. The amount they’re asking for is something we cannot handle alone. It’s painful asking for help, especially from people who don’t even know him—but he doesn’t deserve to be locked away like a criminal when he was doing everything legally to correct his status.
I’m up, down, crying, not sleeping. My heart is breaking watching someone I love being held like this for simply trying to fix his life. I just want him home. I just want him safe.
If you can help—even a small amount—it means hope. It means a chance to bring him back while we continue his immigration case the proper way. Thank you for even reading this. Thank you for caring.
