Hello friends and family,

 

Laurie is a retired jockey that was grazing a horse while another horse came up and went to bite the other horse. From that moment on, the other horse turned around and double barrel kicked her in the ribcage.

 

After sustaining these issues, she was by herself and was thankfully able to reach for her phone to call for help. Once she was admitted to the hospital, it was explained that she has a fractured neck vertebrae, her ribs are completely shattered from the middle of her stomach all through the left side to the middle of her back (broken approx. 3-9 ribs) and the ones in the front are ripped off her chest wall, broken C2 (that is up against base of the skull), and fluid in her lungs.

 

She finally was able to sign the paperwork to get surgery this upcoming Wednesday in order to plate her ribs and drain her lungs with a chest tube. The recovery road will be long and hard, but it is not impossible!

 

We are looking to assist Laurie with medical bills, rent bills, and other bills she may encounter as she begins her recovery process from this tragic accident, as she cannot work anytime in the near future.
