The journey of life leads us down many paths and our good friend Aimee Barnes has embarked on the challenging phase of dealing with colon cancer. Over the past year, Aimee endured 12 rounds of chemo and during this time, it was no surprise that she managed to stay strong. Her strength and resilience, which we all admire, guided her through these hard times. She managed to climb between chemo sessions and stay focused on an active fulfilling life. I admire her grace and determination as she has become her own advocate in the daunting world of health care and sickness. She continues to seek answers and solutions with the desire to live a happy life with her husband Jimbo and her dog Scout.
Through her research, Aimee came upon the option of CRS-HIPEC, an aggressive combination of surgery and chemotherapy to eradicate abdominal tumors. The surgery will be performed on July 28 and then she will need to be in the hospital for up to 10 days. This surgery will also make it so Aimme will not be able to work for some time. She and Jimbo will endure significant medical bills outside of what her insurance will be able to cover.
Aimee has been a friend, mentor, and guide to many of us and she has always opened her heart and home. She has shared her knowledge as well as supported many with her experience and positive energy. Now is a time when we have the opportunity to support Aimee for all the love, compassion, and wonderful climbs she has provided for all of us. Also, I ask that this not be shared on social media as this is a story for our community and does not need to be shared with everyone. Please feel free to contact me, Lisa Van Sciver, with any questions. And I look forward to helping pull our community together and supporting these amazing people Aimee and Jimbo.
Thank you!
