On November 19, 2025 our stepdad Melvin “Charlie” Nerida had to be medivac to Straub Hospital on Oahu for an emergency brain surgery. His MRI results showed he had an infection growing inside of his skull pushing onto his brain causing pain. During his surgery they told us the mass that was inside of his skull was the size of a golf ball but by Gods grace they were able to remove it all. The doctors shared the infection our stepdad had was called fusobacterium. He will be on antibiotics for a whole 8 weeks and doing physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy.

On the road to recovery he will be out of work for a couple months along with our mom Melissa as she will be his caregiver during this time. For those who know our stepdad he would help anyone in need family, friends, or strangers. He’d give his shirt off his back or whatever money he’d had to give. Now is his turn that he is need of our love and aloha, we are kindly asking for any donations to help with mortgage, everyday expenses and hospital bills. The last thing we want is for our stepdad to worry and stress about finances while in recovery. We appreciate anything big or small, even a simple prayer and share. Please, our stepdad is our life, our backbone.
