Asalaam Alaikum wa rahmutAllahi wa barakaatuhu
Brixton Masjid is a masjid with great history and impact in South London, It was founded over 30+ years ago by a group of Afro-Carribean reverts from the local area since it's inception it became a masjid known for teaching people Islam and clarifying to them the correct understanding of Al-Islam.
The masjid is maintained by the donations of it's members almost entirely and so after the Mercy of Allah it is you directly and the donations you give whether £1, £10, £100, £1000 or more. It is those donations that keep Brixton masjid open and serving the community.
Recent Project Updates & Costs
1. New Carpet (Upstairs Brothers Prayer Hall) We have installed a beautiful new carpet sourced from Turkey. It is a 100% wool blend offering high quality, fire resistance, and long-term durability with a lifespan of over 15 years.
Total Cost: £12,500 (Includes production, shipping, underlay, fitting, and waste removal).
Funding Status: The initial estimated cost was £10,000 we utilized £6,000 remaining from a previous fundraiser. However, the total cost was higher than anticipated, leaving a significant shortfall.
2. Essential Kitchen Refurbishment The kitchen has been fully refurbished to ensure it is hygienic, safe, and rodent-free. Work included re-tiling, wall repairs, skirting board fixes, and the removal of old, unused units. We have also installed easy-clean commercial-style worktops for better maintenance.
Total Cost: £2,400
3. General Maintenance & Repairs In addition to the major projects above, we have undertaken critical general maintenance. Costing £2000+
Roof Repairs: Fixing a hole in the roof to prevent pigeon nesting in the attic.
Equipment: Plumbing repairs, replacement vacuums, and new media equipment.
With your support this will help the masjid to reach a more stable finiancial position and also allow for future events without the worry of having to stop them such as:
1. Annual Summer/Winter conference

3. Books/Dawah Material
